yumminess

Av: (with hands on her hips) "Mom! You can't believe it! Dad said no more monkeys!"

Mom: "you mean in your bed?"

Av: "no mom. I don't have monkeys in my bed!"

************************

Mom: "B, this is your last piece of beef jerky. You're going to poop out a whole cow."
(I know. I know. drastic....)

B: (yelling...)"MOM! I AM NOT! YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT MY BODY!"

I could eat these little people.

this is an old pic.... i couldn't resist sharing...

Gravity. It keeps you rooted to the ground.
In space, there's not any gravity.
You just kind of leave your feet and go floating around.
Is that what being in love is like?

where were you 9 years ago??

My MTC companion, Jeneanne Calvin
I have been thinking a lot lately about my mission. It was nine years ago, yesterday, that I went to the MTC. So, I pulled out some of my boxes of pictures and journals... (I haven't done that ONE time since I have been married...) and it's been quite entertaining... I wrote in my journal EVERY day of my mission. What a huge blessing... because it brings back floods of memories... and serious amounts of laughter...
in front of the Provo temple with Calv
I am so SO grateful that I served a mission. And I am grateful that I was able to serve in a foreign land... it was a life changing experience~ full of joyous highs, depressing lows, various miracles, 20 pairs of tights, 3 pairs of Doc Martians, 1 worn out/pen marked set of scriptures, 500+ pictures, dozens of lifelong friends, 1 faith building testimony, a stronger knowledge of the gospel, and generations of people that will be affected by the missionary service...

I was only a part of 2 baptisms my whole mission. One was a huge.... disaster. (another story for another day...) And the other was an adorable 13 year old girl. Her name is Jade. She was raised by her Grandma Jackie. Jackie was a member and Jade was finally interested in learning more about the church... we taught her the lessons and she agreed to be baptized. It was incredible. Her Grandfather was having serious health issues... (he was remarried and living elsewhere...) and Jade said that she wanted him to baptize her... So, we asked him and he of course agreed. Shortly after the baptism (literally, just days later..) he passed away. We all knew that he was hanging on to baptize his only granddaughter.
Jade and I just barely re-connected this past month. She is still active and serving in the Primary in her ward. I am so happy for her. It really gave a special meaning to my mission.... you never really know who you affect... or how you affect people.
my last area, Truro, Cornwall, England
anyway. I just want to share some funny little things... mostly for me, but also for my fellow sister missionaries.... (I love you Lindsay & Kate & Jeneanne & Cami & Shelba & Hilary & Angie & Tamara & Natalie... )
~~ I remember my Trainer, Sister Thorup, teaching me how to ride a bike with a dress on. Literally, this is how she did it-- she got out her bike, walked it to the top of a hill, told me to get on, I did-she then pushed me, I found out my feet didn't reach her pedles... I had to lean to the side and crash to stop.... Pain. that's what I remember most. pain.

~~ I remember answering the phone "Hi, this is Devenie- er, I mean sister Larsen..."

~~ I remember the Elders wanted to go with us on my first door. A dog came out and peed on his leg. We had to go into town to buy him some new shoes...poor Elder...
my last comp Hilary Osborne @ St. Michaels Mount
~~ I remember going to a members house with Sis. Calvin... and they yelled out the mail hole in the door "I am sorry, you can't come in we're naked!" so wrong. so very wrong.

~~ I remember the Mission president telling Calv and I we couldn't scratch each others back in Sacrament meeting... it was giving the men the wrong idea.... yeah. seriously.

~~ I remember running to catch the bus... shin splints and all... only for it to be the wrong bus... or to have my tights down to my ankles....
southern beach of Falmouth, Cornwall with Natalie Chemin
~~ I remember doing a service project with Sis. Dredge. The cystic fibrosis foundation wanted us to wear costumes and stand in front of the grocery store... we were all supposed to be telly tubbies... but they were short one costume, so I got nominated to be the pink panther. Only my costume was just a SKIN TIGHT pink fuzzy onesie with a tail and a huge nose pointing straight up on top of my head. I had several kids pull my tail and ask what the heck I was supposed to be... frustrated I told them I was just a pink weasel....

~~ I remember after walking for miles one day.. we stopped to have lunch on the grass... after sitting there for a while... we both look down to find ourselves COVERED in ants... picture two girls in dresses screaming, waving their arms and running around... reminds me of Chris Farley..."Bee's... they're eating my flesh off..."

~~ Sister White... I love you.... "left, left, left right left. My back aches, my bra's too tight, my butt shakes from left to right... left, left, left right left...

~~ I remember riding my bike (aka: the Orange Bullet)... bouncing off cars, ripping my skirt, putting cloths pins on my dress to keep from flashing everyone the goods... only to have them fly off at 100 mph, people throwing cigarettes at us, riding over dead squirrels...(that was a traumatic one...)riding over ketchup packets, yes, they covered us...

~~ I remember talking into the recorder for our families... and for our sanity. Sis White and I made up a song: all my bags are packed I'm ready to go, I'm standing here, up on the third floor, Here's a little story I'd like to tell you now. It started way back in history, the twenty-eighth of July, ninety-nine....

~~ my mom writing in her letters "dev, stay away from those chocolate doughnuts...." obviously, because of the pictures I was sending home... and sending my companion and I matching white sweater jackets... with shoulder pads. classic.

~~ my skirt zipper getting stuck at our Christmas Conference... it took 8 sisters to get that sucker back up... it was our Christmas miracle! (ok, I really should have kept away from the chocolate bombs...)

so many memories... I hope I never forget them.

Stephen and I are very anxious for the day when we can go back there... It is such a beautiful part of the world. The castles... the hills... the sheep.... the red post boxes.... I miss all of it...

in this pic: L- Brother Chad, Dad, me, Sam & Heidi (in white, school friends)
Angie, Cami and Shelba (some of my companions...)
yes, they all called me sugar....

**sorry about the pics... I don't know why they scanned all crazy....**

my very own cowboy...

tonight... in a fit of anger, Brad came into the living room (about an hour after I put him to bed...)
and said "If you don't give me a crabby pattie... I will NEVER take off my cowboy boots!"

And he was dead serious.

But, I explained that his feet would smell horrible by tomorrow morning.... and his teeth would fall out from eating candy so late...

back to my Alpha posts....

My favorite M is.....MUSIC! ok. ok. It really should be my Mom... or Melanie (my little sis..)~ but, I couldn't pick between the two... so, it's MUsiC!

i can not describe what music does to me. I could be mid conversation and a good song comes on.... yeah. I am gone. I go to another place. I don't know why it has such control over me...

I remember back in Jr. High recording the radio to listen to my fav songs over and over and over.... (that was pre-CD times...) Tiffany~Debbie Gibson~NKOTB!!~Bon Jovi...classics 'eh! "you got the right stuff, baby..."

That was good stuff. I was rockin out with my leg warmers, tight jeans and bangs hair sprayed to the ceiling...

Then in High School.... It was all about the music....
I listened to pretty much everything... besides Country (that wasn't introduced until I moved to Utah...)
Smashing Pumpkins, Usher, Black eyed peas, Pearl Jam, Mariah Carey.... just about anything...

I saw the Steve Miller Band concert.... Summer Jam... (R&B)... Alanis Morisette...Barry Manilow... ;) Garth Brooks...Foo Fighters... and various local wonders...

It seems that my love of music has been passed along to the little ones... none of them protest when I feel the urge to blast the radio while cleaning or cooking. In fact we have our own Boyer family dance moves.... yeah. I am one proud momma.
other magical
M's~~Mom, Melanie, Mafia (the game...), Movies, Massage!!, Making Memories, mowing the lawn... and Mothers day.

Your Theme Song is Beautiful Day by U2

"Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away"

You see the beauty in life, especially in ordinary everyday moments.
And if you're feeling down, even that seems a little beautiful too.

10 random facts about Stephen and I...

ok. I am totally in a Meme mood. I love them. don't ask why.... I don't know. It must be the "force me to remember stuff.." part....

who knows.... anywho.... here's ANOTHER one :)

  1. On our first date (11 years ago...) we ate at Olive Garden. We looked at the menu-- then he told me what he wanted--- and when the waitress came I gave her both of our orders. Neither of us ever thought twice about it. To this day Stephen has NEVER given an order at a restaurant...he just tells me... or I just pick for him. Yep. It's crazy.
  2. Stephen has taken every serious girlfriend home to Alabama for a vacation.... I have NEVER been. what's up with that....
  3. We both laugh at our own jokes...and we fight over who is funnier...
  4. I am almost a whole foot shorter than him...
  5. He has NEVER missed a doctors appointment while I am prego...
  6. We both love road trips and plan one at least every other month... it's our "talk time"...
  7. We balance each other out very well. Things that stress him out (usually) roll right off my back and he isn’t phased by things that tend to make me flip out.
  8. During our "first" phase dating each other... we broke up several times.... one of the times-- we hadn't seen each other for a week or two and I went out one morning to go to work and my gear shift was frozen. I was totally freaked out and didn't know what to do. So, I called Stephen. His truck was in the shop so he walked a mile (in the snow-seriously) to my house... fixed my gear shift... smiled at me then walked home... what a sweet heart. We got back together shortly after that.... :)
  9. We both forgot our last two anniversaries... and the last one we remembered while we were unloading a truck full of tree branches at the dump.... romantic 'eh!
  10. We have a secret code with each other... It started 10 years ago and we use it EVERY day. Mental, yes--- i know. The kids have even picked up on some of it now....

I have really been neglecting my blog.... and the funny thing is if I am checking my friends blogs and they neglect.... I get really sad and wonder what's going on....

So. I am going to be better. After all, it is the new year... I am in goal making mode.

IT WILL HAPPEN! :)

For now I am going to post several pics to represent the last month of craziness....

we drove to Phoenix for Christmas this year... it was really fun.... these first two pics represent the best part of the road trip ;)

Christmas eve we have a family tradition of opening one gift... PJ'S!!!! Kendyl was terribly (almost had a trip to the ER...) sick... Brad was out cold... Rylin was sleeping... and Avery opened EveRyOnes gift. She was in heaven. And honestly, so was I. I live for funny reactions from my kids.... and Av really put on a show for us...this was the face she made with each one...

Brad's Pj's... what a QT...

Queen Av with her throne... and princess gear.... she was in heaven...

This is what Santa looks like by mid afternoon, Christmas day...

We also drove to California and spent a couple of days in Palm Springs... then took off for Newport beach... the kids loved it... until Avery fell in. That was bad. She was pretty traumatized... we spent about an hour collecting shells and covering ourselves with sand for the drive home.

our Rylin turned 1 on the 30th of December.... she is such a wonderful little bug. Easiest baby ever. The day before Christmas she crashed into the corner of a coffee table and gave herself quite the black eye. That was nice for pictures.... figures.

she loves this throne Av got for Christmas... princess in training, I guess.
